The 23rd Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration,  “The Dream: Building an Equitable Tomorrow, Today,” took place on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 6:30pm. 
 
Recipients of the 2022 Martin Luther King Community Development Award included Dr. Charles McVety, President of Canada Christian College, Mr. Ray Williams, Grammy Awardee, Mrs. Delores Lawrence, NHI Founder & Community Leader, Dr. Sheridan Cyrus, Renowned Dentist, and Mr. Sam Riad, Businessman and Philanthropist. 
 
The Dr. Martin Luther King celebration is a transformational community event, modeling the lifestyle of a world-class leader who effected change in a non-violent, strategic and unified manner. This year, the celebration was a virtual broadcast due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Presented as a precursor to the TD Black History Month series, it was a inspiring, motivational, cultural and educational event.
 
The CN Tower and the City of TORONTO displayed MLK Colours on Saturday, January 15th, in honor of this Celebration of Dr. King and his legacy! 
 
Keynote Speaker was the renowned Speaker, Leader and Founder of the Discover the Power TV Series and President of the Ontario Conference, Dr. Mansfield Edwards. Headliners included Recording Artist, Michelle Adams, starring alongside World Renowned Aeolians, Two-time Winners of the World Choir Games; Celebrated Julliard trumpeter and pianist, William Leathers; Ontario First Poet Laureate, Randell Adjei & MLK Global Mass Choir.
 
There was a full representation from all three levels of government (Prime Minister Trudeau, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, and Toronto Mayor John Tory), Chiefs of Police in the Greater Toronto Area, Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission and other dignitaries. Accompanying them are some of Canada’s finest artists, performers, community partners and stakeholders, MLK Community Winners and Scholarship Recipients.
